Square's developers retained the passion-based game development approach from their earlier projects, but now had the resources and ambition to create the game they wanted. This was because they had extensive capital from their earlier commercial successes, which meant they could focus on quality and scale rather than obsessing over and working around their budget.[37] Final Fantasy VII was at the time the most expensive video game ever produced,[45][46] with a development budget estimated between $40,000,000 (equivalent to $68,000,000 in 2021)[37] and $45,000,000 (equivalent to $76,000,000 in 2021).[47][48][49] Development of the final version took a staff of between 100 and 150 people just over a year to complete. As video game development teams were usually only 20 people, the game had what was described as the largest development team of any game up to that point.[37][44] The development team was split between both Square's Japanese offices and its new American office in Los Angeles; the American team worked primarily on city backgrounds.[42]

Sakaguchi was responsible for writing the initial plot, which was substantially different from the final version.[56] In this draft for the planned Super NES version, the game's setting was envisioned as New York City in 1999. Similar to the final story, the main characters were part of an organization trying to destroy Mako reactors, but they were pursued by a hot-blooded detective named Joe. The main characters would eventually blow up the city. An early version of the Lifestream concept was present at this stage.[37][41][56] According to Sakaguchi, his mother had died while Final Fantasy III was being developed, and choosing life as a theme helped him cope with her passing in a rational and analytical manner.[44] Square eventually used the New York setting in Parasite Eve (1998).[41] While the planned concept was dropped, Final Fantasy VII still marked a drastic shift in setting from previous entries, dropping the Medieval fantasy elements in favor of a world that was "ambiguously futuristic".[57]

The original PC version surpassed Eidos's expectations of 100,000 units, quickly exceeding sales of one million units, garnering royalties of more than $2,000,000 (equivalent to $3,300,000 in 2021) for Square.[37] More than 100,000 downloads were sold of the PSN version during its first week of release in 2009.[206] By August 2015, more than 11 million units of the PlayStation and PC versions had been sold worldwide.[207][208] Steam Spy estimated more than 1.2 million downloads on Steam as of April 2018,[209] with a later Steam leak estimating it had 1.14 million players on the platform as of July 2018.[210] Google Play has had more than 100,000 downloads.[211] By 2019, more than 12.3 million units had been sold across all platforms.[212] As of June 2020, the game has sold more than 13.3 million units worldwide.[213][214] As of March 2022, the game has topped 13.9 million units worldwide.[215] As of January 2023, the game has sold over 14.1 million units to date.[216]

Several characters from Final Fantasy VII have made cameo appearances in other Square Enix games, such as the fighting game Ehrgeiz and the popular Final-Fantasy-to-Disney crossover series Kingdom Hearts.[271] Additionally, fighting video game Dissidia Final Fantasy includes Final Fantasy VII characters such as Cloud and Sephiroth, and allows players to fight with characters from throughout the Final Fantasy series, and its follow-up, Dissidia 012, included Tifa as well.[272] Cloud is also a playable character in Final Fantasy Tactics.[273] In December 2015, Cloud was released as a downloadable content character for the Nintendo crossover fighting games Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, along with a stage based on Midgar.[274] He returned in the 2018 sequel, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.[275] Sephiroth was added to Ultimate as downloadable content in December 2020 as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 lineup, alongside 9 additional music tracks from Final Fantasy VII, three additional Mii Costumes based on Aerith, Barret and Tifa, thirteen new Spirits themed around Final Fantasy, and a new stage based on the Northern Cave, the final area in the original game.[276] On television, Final Fantasy VII was parodied in the second season of Robot Chicken in 2006.[277]

This version was re-released on PlayStation Network in North America on June 2, 2009, and in Europe and Australia on June 4 of the same year. The re-release made it playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita consoles. It was downloaded 100,000 times within the first two weeks of release, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation game on the Network.[30]

Lol! people always complain... They can download for free on Google Drive or on other hosts... But they ALSO want torrents for free... EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FREE LMAO... and, in real life, everything should be free too...

All shops featured on will deliver your game immediately after the payment has been approved. This will be either in the form of direct download or PC key - depending on the store of your choice. After you activate key on a corresponding platform, you will be able to download and play your game for free. If you don't know how to activate the key, check out the tutorials section on the bottom of the page.

For Red XIII and Barret, there is cmh175 Red XIII and HQ Barret175 (only extract to the same location).[1] Make sure to download the unshaded Red XIII because the shaded version has a shadow glitch on his belly when Red victory poses.

The PS5 version of Intergrade had the INTERmission DLC baked in, but the player needed to manually download the other pieces of content by tracking them down on PSN. The PC version of FF7 Remake is on the Epic Games Store, which means the developers had to come up with a new method for distributing the DLC to players. This is all done in-game and doesn't require any messing about with the Epic Games Store.

Final Fantasy Ever Crisis will be free to play, and the closed beta test is now coming in summer 2023. Hopefully Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis lasts on iOS and Android longer than Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier that will be shut down soon after only recently releasing worldwide. There is a lot of potential with Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and how Square Enix has a lot coming for Final Fantasy VII fans including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next winter on PS5 and the recently released Steam version of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Are you looking forward to checking out Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and will you be grabbing Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion this week on consoles and PC?

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is now available exclusively for PS5. It includes an upgraded version of the original game, plus a new episode featuring Yuffie. The PlayStation 5 game is now available to purchase, but the rollout is bit complicated. It comes in a few different editions, and owners of the PS4 version get some stuff for free. Let's dig into the details.

With one exception, anyone who already owns Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS4 can download the PS5 upgrade for free starting June 10. (The PS4 version is on sale for $48.43 at Amazon right now). You will, however, have to pay extra for the Yuffie episode, if you're interested in that.

First, go to the PlayStation Store and search for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Use the "Final Fantasy VII Remake upgrade for PS5" option and download and install it. If you already have the PlayStation 4 version downloaded, simply go to your Final Fantasy VII Remake game icon on the PlayStation dashboard. Then press the Options button, then "Manage Game Content." You can choose which game you want to play and which version from here, or download the version that you're missing, then play from there.

If you previously paid to download the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, then you simply need to navigate to the PlayStation store. From there, look for the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade page and select the ''Free PS5 Upgrade'' option on the far left. 041b061a72
